- Section Two.
Do five of the following seven activities.
- Describe three characters. Include not only physical
features but characteristics of their personality
as well. Finally, draw the three characters.
- List ten words from the story and using the thesaurus,
write a synonym for each word.
- List ten words from the story and using the thesaurus,
write an antonym for each word.
- List ten nouns from the story and write their plurals.
- Copy ten sentences and underline their subjects once
and predicates twice.
- Find and list five possessive nouns.
- Chose five vocabulary words and find their definitions
in the dictionary. Write the definitions and write
each word in a sentence of your own.
- Section Three.
Do six of the following eight activities listed below.
- Chapters 1-2
- Stuart had problems with everyday life because of his
size. Chose one of the ways he had a problem
because of his height. Describe how you could
help solve Stuart's problem.
- Chapters 3-4
- Compare yourself to Stuart Little. How are you alike
and yet different. Think about how you feel when
you are too small to do something and compare
this to how Stuart must feel.
- Chapters 5-6
- Use a Venn Diagram to compare the differences and
similarities in Stuart's toy boat to a real boat.
- Chapters 7-8
- Margalo takes Stuarts temperature when he gets sick.
Stuart, being a mouse, has a different normal
temperature from a human. There are many uses
for a thermometer. List some of the common uses
for a thermometer and provide the following
temperatures.
- Water freezes at _______ degrees Fahrenheit
and ________ degrees Celsius.
- Water boils at _________ degrees Fahrenheit
and ________ degrees Celsius.
Ask a parent the temperature for baking:
- Your favorite type of cookie ____________.
- A turkey ___________.
- Chapters 9-10
- In this section of the book, Stuart has problems when
he is thrown out with the trash. His problems are
similar and different to those faced by humans due
to pollution. Make a chart labeled "Problems that
Stuart has because of Pollution" and "Problems I
have because of Pollution." List as many as you can.
- Chapters 11-12
- Draw a picture of a car you think Stuart could drive.
This car should be designed differently than the
car your family drives. List the changes you have
made for Stuart and write a sentence explaining
how each helps Stuart.
- Chapters 13-14
- When Stuart goes to Ames' Crossing he orders a
sarsaparilla to drink. What drink would you have
ordered?
Chose four soft drinks and ask ten people you know
which of the four is their favorite. Make a bar
graph with the results.
- Chapter 15
- In this chapter Stuart leaves home. Think about friends
that you have known that have moved. How did you
feel when they left? Write a short paragraph about
a friend who moved away and how you felt.
- Section Four.
Select three of the following five activities.
- Do a story chain.
- Design a house for Stuart. Make a model.
- Design two pieces of furniture for Stuart.
- Design two pieces of clothing for Stuart.
- The ending of this book is sad. Write a happy ending
for the book.
- Do a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting the book
and the movie.
- REMEMBER, STUART IS ONLY TWO INCHES TALL!
